VTSC Trainers

Samantha Yard, Ph.D.

Dr. Yard received her clinical psychology doctorate from the University of Washington, where she obtained specialized training in third wave behavioral interventions, including a three-year practicum in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with Marsha Linehan. Her prior research centers on the intersection between trauma, emotion regulation, intimate relationships, and health, which she explored in an NIMH-funded pre-doctoral fellowship, and further developed at the VA Puget Sound during a postdoctoral fellowship in PTSD at the Mental Illness Research, Education & Clinical Center. Now on staff as a clinical psychologist in the Intensive Outpatient Program and the DBT Program, Dr. Yard is primarily focused on program development, training and supervision, and the treatment of PTSD and suicidality. She advocated for and contributed to the recent formation of the VA Puget Sound’s comprehensive DBT Team, and she provides supervision, training and consultation in DBT both locally and nationally.
