Hang Ruan, LICSW, received his Masters in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago, and Bachelors in Psychology from University of Illinois. He completed a post-graduate fellowship in the VA National Center of Excellence in Substance Abuse Treatment and Education in 2010. As Program Manager at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Mr. Ruan manages the Co-occurring Disorders Program in the Addiction Treatment Center (ATC), as well as coordinates the Contingency Management program across both Seattle and American Lake Divisions. As Contingency Management Coordinator for Puget Sound ATC, he pioneered a number of innovative initiatives, including development of the CM training video and the Point-of-Care-Testing Authorized Trainer model, both of which were disseminated nationally. He serves as consultant on CM implementation, and has published peer-reviewed articles and presented nationally. A Zen practitioner for 20 years, Mr. Ruan serves as Senior Dharma Teacher in the Kwan Um School of Zen, an international network of Zen Centers. As part of his direct clinical work, Mr. Ruan teaches two weekly mindfulness classes at the VA Puget Sound.
