David D. Luxton, Ph.D., M.S., is a nationally recognized expert and trainer in suicide prevention, telehealth, and innovative technologies in behavioral health care. David D. Luxton, Ph.D. is Founder and CEO of Luxton Labs, LLC and Affiliate Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. He is also Chief Science Officer at the suicide prevention not-for-profit NowMattersNow.org in Seattle. Dr. Luxton previously served as a Research Health Scientist at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego CA, and Research Psychologist and Program Manager at the National Center for Telehealth and Technology (Defense Health Agency), Joint-Base Lewis McChord. A seasoned researcher, he has authored more than 80 scientific articles and book chapters and published two books: Artificial Intelligence in Behavioral and Mental Health Care (2015) and A Practitioner’s Guide to Telemental Health (2016). He has also helped to develop national guidelines for telemental health and clinical best practices in the use of technology in behavioral healthcare. In 2015 he was awarded the American Psychological Association Division 19 (Military Psychology) Arthur W. Melton Award for Early Career Achievement. He is a licensed clinical psychologist and served in the U.S. Air Force.
