Details: As mental health professionals, the concept of informed consent is the foundation of our legal and ethical obligation to clients. In this workshop we will examine the legal and ethical standards regarding informed consent and how this concept applies to many aspects of clinical practice. Participants will gain increased understanding of how to increase protection of client autonomy though application of informed consent. This course is intended to meet ethics CEU requirements.


  1. Gain an understanding of Washington State laws regarding informed consent
  2. Gain an understanding of ethical standards regarding informed consent
  3. Recognize the wide range of clinical applications of informed consent
  4. Create strategies to best protect client autonomy though informed consent
